Columbia College Chicago is an independent, non-profit liberal arts college specializing in arts and media disciplines. We worked with Gensler to design Columbia College’s Student Center, a highly trafficked campus location that required open and functional settings to meet the various demands of the space. Because it was home to the campus food court, student fitness center, career center, multiple meeting rooms, and more,it was crucial that this building accommodate a wide range of events.

For this reason, we created a vast variety of seating arrangements to support the needs of students, faculty and others. Open-concept areas create hubs for gathering, collaborating, learning, and celebrating. President and CEO of Columbia College Kwang-Wu Kim, stated “The new student center is the cornerstone of the student experience at Columbia.”
