For over 25 years, Thomas Interiors and Wheaton College have stood side by side in a rich partnership. While working collaboratively, our teams have created spaces that support Wheaton’s quest for academic excellence for their students and the staff that support them. In 2016, the college approached us to partner with them to find solutions to support their vision for the CVC space. They wanted it to “reflect their renewed commitment to equip their students to use the liberal arts education to thrive post graduation”. That meant a warm inviting space, as well as a workspace that reflected what the graduates can expect in their career position.

What started as ideas and concepts, grew into inspiration pictures, and transformed into furniture ideas and solutions to create a space where students would feel welcome to stop in day one. The space will be a part of the prospective student campus tour. Specifically, the space reflects areas for all sorts of work and collaboration. Each area was created with great intentionality. From an inviting all enclosed glass “Studio” lobby with welcoming spaces for coffee and conversation, to spaces that include multiple touch down areas for laptop work. The Studio includes cozy booth seating, a concrete coffee bar table, and lots of comfy lounge spots.  Moving back in the space is where the Coaches work in an open work concept so that they can communicate easily, and students can approach them with ease. The space also includes multiple conference rooms for employer presentations, and 4 soundproof interview rooms, and meeting spaces for the staff’s 34 employees and student workers. Finally, there is a Hospitality space for employers to feel welcomed when they are on campus.
