Project designer (RFP)

The Project Designer (RFP) oversees the strategy and response to an RFP.  Organizes project team resources, manages response timeline, and distribution of proposal work.  This role supports all sales representatives in Business Development and Account Leadership teams when competing for an RFP.



Design Responsibility:

  • Concept Design

  • Space Planning

  • Workstation Development

  • Furniture Specifications

  • Client Presentations

  • Finish Selections

  • Installation Plan

  • Manage multiple design projects in a collaborate team environment

  • RFP Bid Packages

  • Assist with value engineering alternates as needed

Proposal Management:

  • Reviews the RFP in detail and determines the overall strategy needed in the response (works closely with BD Sales Director and lead salesperson on each project)

  • Distributes and assigns project work for team in conjunction with BD Director & Design Manager

  • Trains new associates on the RFP process, product training and specific RFP & design skills when required

  • Schedules team meetings to review and evaluate proposal development progress

  • Determines budgetary standards for unknown costs associated with RFPs

  • Reviews overall RFP response prior to submittal

  • Creates and updates SOP

  • Establish library of standards & alternates

Project Communication/Coordination:

  • Communicate design progress with sales person

  • Consolidate pricing and specifications and provide to the salesperson

  • Coordinates graphic or content needed from marketing

  • Discuss project phasing with project manager

  • Determine communication needed with A & D firms or clients with salesperson

  • Compile presentations for all RFPs from all salespersons

  • Gather pricing from vendors and enter in CAP



  • 4 Year Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design

  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2017

  • Proficient creating specifications in CAP 20/20 Worksheet

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • Commitment to providing the highest level of support to BD and AL sales teams

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize efficiently

  • Detail-oriented with problem-solving abilities

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and ability to work with little to no supervision

  • Positive, efficient team player with good leadership skills

  • Effective communication skills with individuals at various levels of an organization both within and outside the company

  • Minimum of 5 years corporate design experience
